Finally the course has begun: Bravo!
What is learning through interactive web? What is this learning online about? These questions would not give me a moment of relaxation.Using this technology to learn is totally a new concept to me and largely to most teachers in my country. I knew all along that it would present me with a massive challenge, but isn't this what I have been looking for: A CHALLENGE. I believe I am equal to the task.
Although I am very busy around this time of the year as I prepare my 4th year candidates for their final exams which will usher them to university, I will not allow this to dilute my determination. I am also busy writing plays and verses for next year's drama festivals despite managing my own family as a husband and father but again this will not derail my focus.
I have managed to read several blogs but Dhika's caught my attention. When he says that blogs are not new to him, I cannot help but feel that we indeed live in different worlds. This is my first time to hear about it leave alone using one. Maria Silva also encourages me when she says this was her first time and this makes me feel am not alone.
This course will be an eye opener for me. Schools in my country are yet to embrace this technology and I would love to be among pioneer teachers to introduce the same. A few students may have computers at home and this may be the starting point.
I must thank Robert for offering me this chance and I am sure it will transform me and others who are close to me.
Hi Francis..
ReplyDeleteCongratulation for your blog and welcome to the class..glad to have one more a professional teacher in the class..
First of all..I want to say that you're not alone..despite of my entry that the blog was not a new thing for me but applying blog for teaching English is totally a different thing for me. We have the same feeling here that this course and all the new techniques to teach English are an eye opener. I am totally on your side for supporting your goal as being a pioneer in using this technology because I realize many of teachers and lecturers that I know..they haven't embraced this technology too.. They use and see blog and social networks as personal things not ways of teaching..including me..
Let's enrich our teaching skills through this course together and share with our students
Best regard
Dhika
